This course focuses on building economics and aspects of project management in building projects in line with the Islamic values and principles.
In building economics, the course explains the rationale for building economics through mode of costing in variable conditions, including types of buildings, construction methods; procurement methods using Cost Benefit Analysis, Cost Control; Life Cycle Cost; Value Engineering, Added Value in Building and Design; Value Management; and the benefits of ecological development. Project management is introduced from when the project is initiated to project completion. The course emphasises the need to ensure that the project achieves its objectives of fit for use, time, cost and quality. The importance of human aspects of project management is highlighted. Techniques of project planning, organizing and controlling, including the use of appropriate computer applications, are introduced.
