In this course, students study the meaning of usuli maxims, their differences from legal maxims and their importance in ijtihad and ifta. In addition, students examine the growth and development of usuli maxims, books, and compilations in usuli maxims, and types and sources of usuli maxims. Students will be exposed to major usuli maxims of related to methodological maxims, legal rulings, legal evidences, legal deduction, ijtihad and imitation, and conflict and preference. At the end, students will apply these maxims on certain contemporary legal issues.
